Privacy Policy

Effective July 29, 2026 · Last updated July 29, 2026

This policy explains what Magboard ("the app", "we") collects, why, and how to get rid of it. Magboard is made by HexnHue. We have tried to keep this readable rather than impressive.

The short version. Magboard works entirely on your phone by default. If you never share a board, you never get an account, and none of your boards, photos, or magnets are ever uploaded anywhere. Sharing a board is the moment anything leaves your device. We show no ads, use no analytics or tracking SDKs, and never sell your data.

1. What stays on your phone

Boards, magnets, the photos you turn into magnets, your layout, and your app settings are stored in local storage on your device. Magboard does not require an account to use, and a board you keep to yourself is never transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Deleting the app deletes this local data. It is not backed up by us, though it may be included in your own iCloud or iTunes device backup, which is controlled by you and governed by Apple's privacy policy rather than this one.

2. What we collect when you share a board

Sharing a board, or joining one someone shared with you, requires syncing it through our backend so the other person's phone and home-screen widget can receive it. At that point, and only for boards that are shared, we store:

  • An account identifier. The first time you use a sharing feature, an anonymous account is created automatically so the board has an owner. It contains no personal information — it is a random identifier.
  • Board contents. The board's name, appearance settings, and each magnet's image, label, position, rotation, scale, and layer order.
  • Magnet images. The cut-out images for magnets on a shared board are uploaded to our file storage so the other members can display them.
  • Membership and invites. Which accounts are members of a board, and the invite codes used to join, including when they were created and redeemed.
  • A display name if you set one, so members can tell each other apart. Profile pictures are not uploaded or stored — the coloured circle shown next to a name is generated on your device from that person's initial.

If you choose to sign in with Apple to secure your shared boards, we receive the identifier Apple provides and the email address you allow Apple to share, which may be a private relay address. We use it only to keep your boards attached to you across devices and reinstalls. We do not send marketing email.

3. Photos and camera

Magboard asks for camera access so you can photograph an object and turn it into a magnet, and for permission to add images to your photo library when you export a magnet or board. Cutting the subject out of a photo happens on your device.

We do not read or scan your photo library. Only the specific images you pick or capture become magnets, and those images are uploaded only if the board they are on is shared, as described in section 2.

4. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Apple issues a device token that we store so we can tell your phone when a shared board changes. That is the only thing we use it for: there are no promotional or marketing notifications. Turning notifications off in iOS Settings stops them.

5. Purchases

Purchases are processed by Apple. We never see or receive your card details, billing address, or Apple ID password. We use RevenueCat to tell us whether a purchase is currently valid, which involves sending an anonymous identifier and Apple's receipt to their service. Apple's and RevenueCat's handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.

6. What we do not collect

  • No analytics, product-usage tracking, or session recording SDKs.
  • No advertising, ad identifiers, or ad networks.
  • No cross-app or cross-site tracking, and no data brokers.
  • No contacts, location, microphone, health, or calendar data.
  • We do not sell or rent your personal information, and never have.

7. Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run the app, and only for that purpose:

  • Supabase — hosts the database and file storage that shared boards sync through.
  • RevenueCat — verifies purchase status.
  • Apple — handles app distribution, payments, Sign in with Apple, and delivery of notifications.

Beyond these, we disclose data only if legally required to. Members of a board you share can of course see everything on that board, so treat sharing a board as making its contents visible to those people.

8. How long we keep it

Shared board content is kept while the board exists. Deleting a board deletes its contents and images from our backend. Deleting your account removes your account record and the boards you own. Invite codes expire on their own. Local data on your phone lasts until you delete the app or the board.

9. Deleting your data and your rights

You can delete an individual board from inside the app at any time, which removes it from our backend along with its magnets and images. To delete everything, use Delete Account on the Account screen: this permanently removes your account, the boards you own, and your uploaded images. It cannot be undone.

Depending on where you live you may also have the right to access, correct, export, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it or complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these, or if you used the app anonymously and want your data removed, email codingmunk94@gmail.com and we will help.

10. Security

Data in transit is encrypted with HTTPS. Access to shared boards is enforced at the database level, so only members of a board can read or change it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we keep the amount of data we hold deliberately small.

11. Children

Magboard is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, email us and we will delete it.

12. International users

Magboard is operated from India, and our service providers may process and store data in other countries. By using the app you understand your information may be transferred to and stored in countries other than your own.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will make it clear in the app. Continuing to use Magboard after a change means you accept the updated policy.

14. Contact

Questions, requests, or corrections: codingmunk94@gmail.com. We read every message.
